Images of Processes Exhibition will feature two African-American guest artists; sculptor Albert LaVergne and painter James C. Palmore. Both artists are from Kalamazoo, Michigan and have shown work extensively in solo, group and invitational exhibitions.
Euclid Quartet

The Euclid Quartet continues its presentation of the complete Beethoven String Quartet cycle to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The ensemble will perform all 16 Beethoven String Quartets in 6 concerts in 2009; this concert is fifth in the series. This ambitious program was set to honor the Euclid Quartet’s 10th anniversary. To the Euclid Quartet, the string quartets of Beethoven are the most personal music of a man who without a doubt revolutionized his art. Collectively, the cycle encompasses the entire spectrum of human character and emotion; from despair, cartoon-like comedy, triumphant heroics, charm, daredevil speed, teasing, trickery, simple joy, hope, prayer and the pondering of ethereal mystery. The Euclid Quartet feels their own journey as a string quartet has been a rollercoaster ride through many of these characters and emotions. And so, to celebrate their ten-year anniversary, they embark on the voyage of performing all of Beethoven's quartets in one year over six concerts at IU South Bend. Ludwig van Beethoven wrote sixteen full quartets plus a single gigantic movement. These are generally split into three categories corresponding with the composer's different compositional periods. The Euclid Quartet has chosen to present the quartets in this way to allow the listener to experience Beethoven’s growth as a composer in a single concert.

The IUSB Theatre Company opens its 2009-2010 season with Sharman Macdonald's After Juliet. Find out what happens to the Montague’s and Capulet’s after the loss of Romeo and Juliet. Randy Colborn, Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance directs this production.
Gospel Ensemble

The Gospel Ensemble from the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at IU South Bend will present their debut solo performance in the Campus Auditorium this fall. Directed by CreAnne Mwale, this new ensemble includes students and community members.
Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra

The Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra will present a free concert for the community. Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra co-founders Mark Buselli and Brent Wallarab are music educators, as well as musicians and composers. Their common commitment to America's jazz heritage brought the BWJO to life and helped define the mission of the organization. They regularly hold concerts and clinics at public schools in Indianapolis.
Brass Faculty and Friends

The Brass Faculty and Friends of the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts will perform in small ensembles. Craig Heitger, a part-time faculty member and trumpet instructor, has organized this concert. The performance will feature an impressive repertoire of works that are not often presented in a single concert. Performers in this concert include several faculty members from the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts as well as local musicians.

An exhibition of work from the summer 2009 Street Photography in Florence program, which was taught by Assistant Professor Susan L. Moore and coordinated with Professor Scott Sernau, Director of International Programs at IU South Bend.
The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday, October 29, 4:00-6:00 p.m. where refreshments will be served. The students will then present a Gallery Talk at 6:00 p.m. about their experiences from the trip and preparing the exhibition.
Exhibiting students are Lindsay Dadosky, Jacob Denning, Katrina Fink, Lucas Zigler.
"In the Parlor" with Rebecca Hovan, flute

Gallery
Rebecca Hovan will present a flute recital including small ensemble pieces titled "In the Parlor." This performance will be held in the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts Gallery where student photography from our Glimpses of an Ancient City Exhibition will be on display.
Hovan is currently Chair of the Pedagogy Committee of the National Flute Association and is on the faculty at Indiana University South Bend and Goshen College. She has co-authored several flute method books and recently released her first CD. Rebecca Hovan appears regularly in recital and with various ensembles in the Northern Indiana area.
South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestras

The concert will include performances by the South Bend Youth Concert Orchestra, conducted by Emilie Grondin and the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pete Collins. The South Bend Youth Orchestras are a collaborative project between the South Bend Community School Corporation and the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at IU South Bend. In an effort to provide young musicians with an opportunity to rehearse and perform in a larger ensemble the South Bend Youth Orchestras were formed.
Martin Endowed Professor in Piano Alexander Toradze and the Toradze Piano Studio

Martin Endowed Professor in Piano Alexander Toradze will perform with the Toradze Piano Studio. The Toradze Piano Studio is a unique phenomenon in today’s musical world – an assembly of several generations of pianists – students and associates of Alexander Toradze. The Studio was established in 1991 at Indiana University South Bend with the appointment of Alexander Toradze as Martin Endowed Professor of Piano. Soon it began touring as a piano ensemble-the first of its kind in the United States. Toradze's idea of the "touring conservatory studio" is rooted in the Russian/European educational practice - and is filled as much with tradition as emotion. A 'class' concert of an influential professor would be one of the most important performance opportunities for the young aspiring musician. The 'class' would also travel outside the conservatory, to gain performance experience on the road, to recruit new young talent and educate the public. In this tradition, the Toradze Piano Studio has provided both an educational environment for young musicians from many different countries as well as a performance platform for its more experienced members. The Studio is equally unique as it comprises an extended family - with members sharing their lives, learning and performing together.
