Assistant Professor of Theatre

Inseung Park first earned his B.S. in Environmental Health Science in Korea, but he moved to the United States with his talent for art to achieve his dream of becoming a scene designer in 1999. He earned his B.F.A., scene design emphasis in theatre at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2002, and continued to explore scene design for his M.F.A. in the theatre and dance department at the University of Texas Austin where he achieved his credits from numerous performances and films such as Lorca’s Blood Wedding and Kondoleon’s The Vampires at Oscar Brockett Theatre. One of his designs in film, Wake, was awarded a grand prize at the 2004 Kodak competition, and was screened internationally including at Cannes International Film Festival, Cinema Texas International Film Festival, Arizona International Film Festival, and Seoul Net Festival in 2005. He designed Spring’s Awakening for the Looking Glass Theatre in New York City in 2006. Since 2006 he has designed for numerous plays and children shows including Betty’s Summer Vacation by Christopher Durang, Paragon Springs by Steven Dietz, and E. B. White’s The Trumpet of the Swan at the main stage for the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at IU South Bend. He has also taught various design courses as well as Structure and Analysis of Drama.
