Communication Area

Music Area

Since prehistoric times, humans have used art to interpret their world and express their intellectual, emotional, and physical relationships to it. The study of fine arts allows students to hone their own creative talents while gaining an understanding of the meaning of art as well as its history.

The IU South Bend fine arts program is built on a fundamental core of courses in drawing, two- and three-dimensional design, and art history. Areas of advanced study include painting; drawing; sculpture; ceramics; jewelry-making; electronic media such as video art, printmaking, graphic design, and photography; and the history of art.

Special Opportunities

Students are encouraged to join the Fine Arts Club.
